The social media platform for petrol heads by Clarkson, Hammond & May from Top Gear.

The idea was to provide a market-leading pan-platform 'hub and spokes' content production and consumption proposition, initially within motoring. The hub being drivetribe.com and it's apps, with the spokes being anywhere else where content can be pushed out to and consumed (Facebook feeds, Instagram etc).

Anyone can publish into the DRIVETRIBE platform to build their brand, and to engage with and monitise their following, aka their 'Tribe'.

Key to offering a content consumption experience over and above traditional media players it was important to offer innovative content vessels and functionality to yeild high levels of engagement. We did this through articles, video's, galleries, polls and gamification to name a few.

My task as the first permenent member of the creative team was to set the design language for all products on responsive web, iOS and Android, help to develop a brand and build a team of designers that could take on this task.

Creating a custom design system that spanned across responsive web, iOS and Android.

From custom grids to small easter eggs in the modular scale. Every foundational element and component was created in a consistent and harmonious way. We set up component club every Friday. This enabled the team to stay close to the system, understand what needs to changed and to have open and honest conversations about what we can do to make it better.
